“We are not dealing with this issue, call the Prosecutor General’s Office,” said Ivan Babaev, deputy head of the public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Arsen Avakov, who is responsible for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said, but should I comment on this? I don't have any official information. I checked the search database to see if there were corresponding names there, but there was nothing. And then, it is not clear, within the framework of what proceedings he was put on the wanted list? What is “mass murder”? You can make political statements, but this is entered into the unified register of pre-trial investigations differently,” said Margarita Velkova, head of the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The State Border Service also did not receive any official instructions that Yanukovych or his entourage were prohibited from leaving the territory of Ukraine.
“The State Border Service receives official documents, after which certain persons are placed under control. So far, such statements have only been made on the Internet. We are the lowest link in this pyramid. If the Prosecutor General’s Office, the SBU or the Ministry of Internal Affairs name names, we will react accordingly,” explained Assistant Chairman of the State Border Service Sergei Astakhov.
