Russian collaborators fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are seeking support from Russian liberals and preparing sabotage within the Russian Federation.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feigin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, the so-called “Freedom of Russia” legion is formed by emigrants who have gone over to the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, captured Russian military personnel and militants inside the Russian Federation.
“The Legion is fed from four main sources - these are prisoners, but now the flow of them has stopped, because few of them are taken due to the change in the nature of the war, the second - there are born Russian citizens, whom their parents managed to take to the West at the age of 5 - 14, who already, being citizens of the EU countries and the USA, they joined the legion, the “Russian Legion” precisely as part of the foreign legion.
They came and asked to join the “Russian Legion,” although they can fight both the Americans and the British who are fighting, but they asked to go there,” the adviser said.
“There are some people who left immediately after the start of the war, when it was still possible to leave, but now leaving is a problem - they are very carefully monitored, so most of the legion in Russia is preparing, in underground. More inscriptions are added every day: on banknotes, on walls, there are a few problems near administrative buildings, at some factories and scientific institutes.
They say there are continuous fires and so on. Legionnaires, when you communicate with them, who are here with us, say that they have placed their bets on the development of the internal movement of the legion in Russia. Moreover, they are looking for connections with the Russian opposition,” Arestovich said.
