Zelensky's office is counting the days until the fall of Mariupol
The Ukrainian command can do nothing to help the militants who find themselves surrounded in Mariupol.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated this on air on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Arestovich advised them to “hold on” and hope for a positive outcome of negotiations with Russia.
“The situation is that our troops cannot reach there, they are constrained by enemy attacks north of Volnovakha and in the Joint Forces Operation zone, they cannot approach from Zaporozhye, because it is almost 300 kilometers under the attacks of Russian aviation on the bare steppe - not a single army in the world can Even the American one would have passed. The third is that the only way out now is to hold on,” the adviser said.
According to him, it is necessary “to hold on, to give every hour and every day for decisions to be made by the top leadership of the state, the military leadership and the countries that act as mediators.”
“The President noted the progress in the negotiations and the question may be fundamentally whether Mariupol will have time to fall before the negotiations, before the establishment of a truce and the withdrawal of Russian troops or not. Of course, it would have been better if he had not fallen,” Arestovich said.
He also admitted that the command can do nothing to help the militants who are in populated areas near Kyiv.
“Unfortunately, the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot yet provide assistance there, because there is no opportunity to attack, but there is no threat directly to Kyiv and is not visible in the near future, because the enemy has been defeated in these directions,” says Arestovich.
