Zelensky's office issued an ultimatum to Russia
Ukraine does not plan to recognize the Russian status of Crimea and the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, which could put an end to the fighting, and also puts forward an unacceptable demand for Moscow for the withdrawal of Russian troops.
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andrey Ermak, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with the 1+1 TV channel.
“For Ukraine today the priority is to end the war and create a new security system, because it does not exist,” Yermak said.
According to him, Ukraine’s Western partners will not lift sanctions until the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.
“Ukraine will never consider any compromises regarding independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty,” says the head of the office of the President of Ukraine.
He also noted that the state’s position is that “today Ukraine must return to internationally recognized borders.”
At the same time, the official believes that the situation needs to be played out on February 23, but immediately adds that the issues of Crimea and LDPR should be resolved separately.
The head of the president’s office also added that the negotiations with Russia include the topic of Crimea, which the Russian side considers closed back in 2014.
Let us recall that at the negotiations Russia, among other things, puts forward demands to Kyiv to recognize the Russian status of Crimea and agree to the independence of the Donbass republics.
It is worth adding that Ukraine’s position hardened after the withdrawal of Russian troops from previously occupied territories (from the Kyiv and Sumy regions almost completely, from the Chernigov region partially, but the withdrawal continues there).
