Offshore companies will help the Russian gas pipeline bypass American sanctions
Despite American sanctions and the refusal of the main contractor, the Swiss company Allseas, which was involved in laying pipes on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, to participate in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, it is planned to be built promptly.
Andrei Magillanov, a representative of the marine construction company Caravelle Exclusive, told Moskovsky Komsomolets about this.
He notes that bypassing Washington’s sanctions is already being worked on by the project participants.
“Over the past few days, there have been persistent rumors that Allseas’s exit from the Baltic Sea is just a demonstration of intentions. There is information that Russian representatives are negotiating for the Swiss to re-register ships in an offshore jurisdiction, covering themselves with a chain of seven or eight firms independent from each other. And Russia today is the most advanced power in the field of offshore business,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
According to him, while the Americans figure out who the ultimate beneficiary of the ships is, the remaining part of the pipeline, comparable in length to the Moscow Ring Road, will be calmly brought to the shores of Germany.
“I won’t be surprised that one of these days we will learn that the pipe-laying company has already transferred its vessels, as well as technology and crews, to some exotic state,” Magillanov added.
