“A huge field of work” – the Federation Council called for the development of a law on the fifth column
For the sake of ensuring the security and sovereignty of Russia, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation must legally determine which individuals and organizations are the “fifth column”.
Senator Alexey Kondratiev stated this during a meeting of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation on protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to legislatively work out the question of what is actually the opposition, and what, ultimately, is what is called the fifth column.
That is, if it is a parliamentary structure waging a political struggle within the framework established by legislation in democratically accepted norms, that’s one thing. But what leads to subversive activities on the territory of our state is completely different.
And therefore for us this is a huge direction and field of work. We must, as part of our activities in studying all factors affecting the security, independence and sovereignty of our state, work on this in full,” the senator urged.
