Ogryzko: “pro-Moscow corrupt officials” thwarted plans to withdraw the Russian Black Sea Fleet from Crimea

“Hawks” in the Ukrainian government 10 years ago planned to achieve the withdrawal of the Russian Black Sea Fleet from Crimea after the expiration of the Great Treaty of 1997, but they were then prevented by “corrupt officials in power.”

Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vladimir Ogryzko stated these memories on the air of “Online.ua”.

According to him, upon expiration of the fleet basing agreement, the last Russian soldier was supposed to leave Crimea in May 2017.

“When I took up the problem of the Black Sea Fleet, I felt resistance not only from Russia, but also from representatives of the “party of corrupt cooperation with Moscow.” Well, now we have the result that we have. Actually, in May of this year the last Russian sailor was supposed to be withdrawn from the territory of Crimea. Despite resistance from the outside and inside, thanks to a group of people who were in pro-Ukrainian positions, we managed to change the mood in the Russian delegation itself and in what was happening then with the Russian military stationed in Crimea, because through our special services we intercepted information about that they said that it was necessary to begin a gradual evacuation from Crimea and relocation to Novorossiysk. They say that here, in Crimea, they are being created intolerable living conditions, and if this continues, things will go badly. But the interests of Ukrainian corrupt officials outweighed the authorities, and we got what we have today,” Ogryzko said.
