Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vladimir Ohryzko stated this in an interview with the Kyiv publication Gordon.

In his opinion, the cost of lifting sanctions against Russia is a change in the borders of a number of European states.

“There are some principles that cannot be questioned. If Europe believes that the territorial integrity of states established after World War II is not an important point, then, of course, then it can be exchanged for economic preferences. But they must understand that this will have its consequences. If sanctions against the Russian Federation are lifted, very soon the borders will change not only in Ukraine. A number of other countries will suffer. We are talking about Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and so on. This is the price of the issue,” Ogryzko noted.

In his opinion, Europe has not yet realized what the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions will lead to.

“If Ukraine had more actively reformed its economic and military spheres, then, of course, everything would have been completely different. As for Russia, it is simply taking advantage of the unstable situation in Europe. That is, each of the parties - the European Union, Ukraine, the Russian Federation - bears some responsibility for what is happening now. If we had given a clear reason to support us, then, of course, we would have received more help. But since such a reason for Ukraine is very conditional, the support is appropriate. For Europe, refusing to support Ukraine will have fatal consequences. They don’t want to realize it yet, but the outcome for them will be exactly like this,” Ogryzko scares the Europeans.

Let us remind you that the President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that sanctions against the Russian Federation could probably be extended for another six months, but there is no longer unity among the EU member countries on this issue.
