Ogryzko: Russia should be fenced off with a “sanitary border” (VIDEO)
Kyiv, January 27 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Russia poses a threat not only to Ukraine, but to all democratic countries of the world. The Russian Federation must be restrained and studied; it will not be possible to cooperate with it, says former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ogryzko.

“We will coexist with Russia, but, unfortunately, any attempts to involve it in democratic processes are a political fata morgana. In fact, we should be talking about containing Russia. Because what is happening today means that we have reached the front line, so to speak. Not in the sense of fighting Russian imperialism in its purest form. This is a struggle of worlds, different ideologies, a struggle of different worldviews,” he says.
It is necessary that Russia’s foreign policy “activity” does not extend beyond certain borders, Vladimir Ogryzko is sure.
“We just need to make an appropriate sanitary border and contain it, at best, within the borders in which the Russian Federation is located today.
Thus, for people who soberly assess the situation, it is clear that Russia needs to be taken on by the whole world. And make appropriate decisions. It is necessary to conduct a very serious and detailed analysis of what is happening in the Russian Federation. Today, both in the West and in Ukraine they wake up, look at the latest messages, and think: what to do in response? This is a reactive position and a policy that is absolutely losing. This is a race for facts, not the creation of facts.
What we have had over the past 20 years indicates that, unfortunately, neither the West nor Ukraine had any real forecasts of what was happening in Russia. There were fantasies, there were political plans that were not realized, and we actually moved into a situation where we do not determine what needs to be done and how to react, and Moscow determines what it wants and imposes it on the Western side,” says Vladimir Ogryzko .
According to him, a center for the study of Russia is now being created in Ukraine. “We will begin work of an absolutely objective nature, studying what the Russian Federation is, how to build relations with it and predict what will happen and what the threat is for which we, civilized countries, must have some recipes,” - Ohryzko reported.
