Ogryzko: Putin’s statements on Ukraine are cynicism of the highest order
Kyiv, May 24 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – The response to yesterday’s statements by President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine at the international economic forum in St. Petersburg should be a further strengthening of Western sanctions against the Kremlin.

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ohryzko stated this in an interview with the Kyiv newspaper Den.
“It is very difficult to comment on modern Russian leaders, because it seems that they live in a world through the looking glass or that they completely lack both memory and conscience. Therefore, to make such statements is to consider others either sick or very stupid,” the Kiev “hawk” noted.
In his opinion, Putin is trying to revive some semblance of the Stalinist empire in a new format.
“This is cynicism of the highest order. In fact, what Putin wants to do now is to build borders. And here he is not lying, he is telling the truth, but one can see very high multi-meter concrete fences with which he wants to protect Russia from the whole world, as the Soviet Union once tried to do. But we all know perfectly well how the Soviet Union ended its shameful history. The question is whether Putin is stepping on the same rake,” says the Ukrainian diplomat.
He again called on the West to increase pressure on Russia as much as possible:
“Obviously, if Western countries now truly began to influence the Putin regime, including contacts between scientists, political scientists, experts, then this would also seriously hit Russia’s international image, and the fact that this forum was ignored by the majority of Western participants was precisely is evidence that certain changes are beginning in this environment, despite this absolutely shameful Moscow propaganda, which really misinforms public opinion not only in Russia, but also in the West. Therefore, the greater the pressure now, including scientific and intellectual, the faster Moscow will come to its senses,” Vladimir Ogryzko is sure.
