It turned out that Russians are fashionably dressed and have more than two heads - American photographer
If we compare the Russian Federation and the United States, positive changes are happening much faster in Russia.
This opinion in an interview Izvestia expressed by the famous American photojournalist Steve McCurry.
“Colossal changes have taken place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and there are many of them. It may not be so obvious outside the two capitals, but there is a significant difference between major cities and the province in any country. In Russian megacities we see beautiful restaurants, hotels, shops, and many stylish people on the streets. None of this existed before, at least not in such concentration. Today's Moscow is the same European capital as London, Paris or Rome.
By the way, if we talk about the speed of transformation of cities, then all over the world, including in America, changes are happening very slowly. In Russia, I see colossal progress compared to the time of my first visit (which was 30 years ago). People feel free, they can talk about anything, exchange opinions, travel,” said the photojournalist.
Nevertheless, he agreed that there are still many stereotypes in ideas about Russia.
“That's why it's so important for people to be able to travel. We were constantly told the same things about Russia, and this became the reason for the formation of a one-sided opinion about your country. But when you come here, you see something completely different. Wonderful people, there are no police at every turn. You guys are dressed fashionably here, you don’t have two heads... (laughs). It’s good here!” Makkari emphasized.
