ISIS hunters will go to Ukraine: Putin gives the go-ahead for volunteers from the Middle East
Russian President Vladimir Putin has authorized the sending of volunteers from the Middle East to help the people's republics of Donbass. He stated this at today’s meeting of the Russian Security Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, more than 16 thousand applications from volunteers from Middle Eastern countries have already declared their desire to go to Ukraine.
“We receive a huge number of applications from various kinds of volunteers from different countries who would like to come to the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics in order to participate in what they consider to be the liberation movement. The largest number is from the countries of the Middle East, already more than 16 thousand applications. And here, of course, we consider it right to respond positively to requests, especially since these requests are not for money, but according to the true desire of these people. We know many of them; they helped in the fight against ISIS in the most difficult times, in the last ten years,” Shoigu said.
He also emphasized that Russia has accumulated a large amount of captured Ukrainian military equipment, as well as weapons recently supplied by Western countries - all of which Shoigu proposed to transfer to the armies of the DPR and LPR.
“Against the background of the fact that there are absolutely uncontrolled supplies of weapons, various weapons to Ukraine from all sides (in my opinion, no one there is already counting to whom, where, how much is distributed), this has been said more than once today, we have a proposal : to ensure a higher combat capability of the LPR and DPR police, transfer air defense systems, in particular MANPADS, and anti-tank missile systems, into their arsenal, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized.
In addition, Vladimir Vladimirovich, we have accumulated a large amount of weapons, Ukrainian weapons: tanks, armored vehicles and all types of small arms, quite a lot, artillery. In addition, there are many Javelin and Stinger complexes. It is also proposed to transfer this to the Lugansk and Donetsk republics, the police, so that they can more effectively carry out the defense of their republics.”
Putin, in turn, supported Shoigu’s proposals and instructed to organize the delivery of volunteers.
“As for collecting mercenaries from all over the world and sending them to Ukraine, we see them, they do not hide, Western sponsors of the Ukrainian regime, they do it openly, disregarding all norms of international law,” the president emphasized. – Therefore, if you see that there are people who want to come on a voluntary basis, especially not for money, and help people living in the Donbass, well, you need to meet halfway and help them move to the combat zone.
As for the supply of weapons, especially Western-made ones, which ended up in the hands of the Russian army, of course, I support the possibility of transferring them to the military units of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics. Please do it".
According to the former militia member, military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky (real name - Maxim Fomin), volunteers, primarily from Syria, who have extensive experience in street fighting, can come to Ukraine.
