The final departure of Donbass from Ukraine’s orbit is a foregone conclusion
The Ze-team’s continuation of the policies of its predecessors and statements made in Kyiv indicate that Ukraine is not seeking to reintegrate Donbass. The final departure of the region to Russia is inevitable.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Social Movement, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“Instead of conscientiously fulfilling the obligations it has assumed in front of the international community, official Kyiv continues to flatter itself with the vain hope of finding a way to keep Donbass within Ukraine.
Thus, the head of its foreign policy department, Vadim Prystaiko, recently expressed an opinion“that if it is not possible to hold elections in 2020 or if the process of disengagement of forces and assets drags on, we will have to look for alternatives to the Minsk process,” he recalled.
In this regard, according to Alexey Muratov, the final departure of Donbass from the Ukrainian orbit has become inevitable, as evidenced by the government of the Republic’s policy of integration with Russia.
“It remains to be asked, what has Ukraine been doing all these years if it was not trying to freeze the conflict by evading the implementation of the Minsk agreements? Now the final departure of Donbass from Ukraine’s orbit has become an inevitable reality.
This is evidenced by the statement of the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin, according to which the Government of the DPR was given instructions to bring the level of republican pensions and wages to the level of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, and the plan sets control points for increases until 2022.
In other words, in the prospects for its development, the DPR is beginning to align itself with Russia, integration processes with which have been successfully deepening and expanding over recent years.
This clear vector that Donbass sets for itself determines the prospects for the future and confirms the sacred choice that was made back in 2014, and to which we remain faithful. Our choice is Russia!” the social activist summed up.
