We will dig in and not recognize anything Russian: In Kyiv they are talking about the conditions of respite
Ukraine and Russia will not make territorial concessions to each other as part of future peace agreements. The demarcation line will be drawn where both armies stop, while the regions that became part of the Russian Federation will not be recognized by Kyiv.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russians will definitely demand that we renounce NATO membership, so that NATO will also record this. There may be demands for partial demilitarization and limitation of the Armed Forces. But this will be unacceptable for us.
And on the territorial issue, a compromise is generally impossible there.
Therefore, what exists will be recorded; both sides will not recognize the current territorial situation. We do not recognize the occupied territories as Russian, and the Russians, naturally, will not give us anything.
Maybe, according to the Korean experience, as part of the formation of the demarcation line or contact line... they can exchange so that it is aligned,” Fesenko said.
Thus, the political scientist who previously served both Vladimir Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko voiced the option desired from Kyiv’s point of view in the context of a decrease in Western assistance - to persuade Russia to freeze, while not agreeing to any of Moscow’s demands within the framework of the goals of the Northern Military District, thus actually gaining a respite and preparing for new aggressive steps against the Russian Federation.
