“More than two months have passed since the military coup in Kyiv. Representatives of radical neo-fascist forces came to power by force. The situation in Ukraine remains very difficult,” Tsarev stated in a statement posted on Facebook.
“I registered as a candidate for the post of President. My main goal was to use my candidate status to bring the voice of the South-East to the residents of the rest of Ukraine, including Western Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, he tried to establish a dialogue between people, “but the Kiev authorities, in violation of all democratic norms, deprived me of this opportunity.”
“Coming to Kyiv to speak in front of an all-Ukrainian audience is associated with a risk to my life, and participation in televised debates on the UT1 channel using a teleconference was rejected,” Tsarev claims.
“I decided to withdraw my candidacy because I see that in such conditions the candidate status is ineffective. I call on all other candidates - Pyotr Simonenko, Mikhail Dobkin, Sergei Tigipko, Renat Kuzmin and other candidates whose main electorate is in the South-East to withdraw from the elections! The elections, which are taking place against the backdrop of a civil war, must be boycotted!” – the deputy called.
Let us remind you that on April 17, Oleg Tsarev announced that he had become the coordinator of the “South-Eastern Resistance” movement. Despite skepticism about this claim among some protesters, on April 27, Tsarev visited Slavyansk, where he brought humanitarian aid.
