Death of the first leader of the Lugansk People's Republic Valeria Bolotova It seems not only sudden, but also illogical. Valery survived the first, most difficult year of the Republic, participated in the capture of the SBU, and was in the Lugansk regional administration during air strikes on it. Created an army and government structures during the war. He did not hide from bullets and did not part with his weapon. With your memories of the hero of the Russian Spring with an observer "PolitNavigator" Valentin Filippov politician shares Oleg Tsarev, the only member of the Verkhovna Rada who openly supported Novorossiya.

Valentin Filippov: In a nutshell, what happened to Valery Bolotov? He died so suddenly and at such an age.

Oleg Tsaryov: He didn’t feel well yesterday. But this morning I felt fine. At two thirty I was still texting with Lena and my wife. And at three o’clock she came - he was no longer alive. Apparently - the heart.

Such situation. It's a pity.

Valentin Filippov: What has Valery been doing for the last two years, after he left the territory of the LPR?

Oleg Tsaryov: He lived the life of the Republics. Although from a distance, he fully participated in all processes. I saw him very often in the State Duma. We have mutual friends. He came to see me in Crimea not so long ago.

We met him in Lugansk, in the SBU building. I came to them, to the protesters, as a presidential candidate. I was received well and warmly.

And, from that time on, there were crazy overloads. Nervous overload. The people who seized the SBU building had no doubt that they were doing the right thing, but they were sure that they would die. They lived in anticipation of the assault and the fact that they would be cleared out.

And only the residents of Lugansk, who formed a ring around the SBU building, as far as I understood the events, had real plans, commands were given, and they were not allowed to deal with them.

And then we held a referendum together.

We were together in the administration building when Ukrainian planes fired at it.

And then, when Lugansk was actually surrounded. Dead children, dead old people. All this was very difficult psychologically. I will say that few people know about this, but he was very emotional. Very. He let everything pass through himself, outwardly maintaining equanimity.

When these events began to unfold, I sent my family to Crimea. From Dnepropetrovsk. For obvious reasons. And he offered to send his family there. And our families stayed together for a whole year, until he left Lugansk. The wives were friends. The children were friends.

Valentin Filippov:  Could Valery have any enemies? I don’t think he had any rivals in the LPR; he didn’t claim leadership. But could it be enemies from Kyiv? Someone who wanted him dead?

Oleg Tsaryov: When my comrades died over and over again, I always gave several versions. And he said that it could be like this, and it could be like that. Here I have no doubt that he died - his heart just couldn’t stand it.

Of course, there hasn't been an autopsy yet. It all happened today, from half past two to three. But there is no reason to say that this is murder.

Valentin Filippov: Okay, thank you very much. May you rest in peace to your comrade in arms. Actually, we didn’t do as much as he did.

Oleg Tsaryov: If I start to look back, then almost a few of those who actively participated in those events remained alive.

Valentin Filippov: Everyone knew what they were getting into. They gave themselves a report. The main thing is that it works out in the end. Thank you very much.

Oleg Tsaryov: Goodbye.
