Kyiv - Vienna, March 20 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - The Vienna Regional Court confirmed the receipt of a bail of 125 million euros for the Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash, detained on March 12 at Schwechat airport. However, the federal agency for combating money laundering “froze” this amount until their source is clarified, and for this reason the billionaire will remain in custody, RIA Novosti reports.

The Vienna court decided on March 14 to open a case on the extradition of the detained Firtash to the United States and assigned him bail, and also prohibited him from leaving Austria for the duration of the hearings. Extradition proceedings in Austria usually take a long time, not limited by law.
Firtash was detained in one of the central districts of Vienna, Margareten, on the evening of March 12 at the request of the FBI. The request to detain the oligarch came from the United States in 2006 and is related to charges of bribery and organizing a criminal community.
