Omelyan raves about the “Russian cyber attack” on the Kiev metro
London allegedly provided Kyiv with information about the participation of the Russian GRU in a cyber attack on the Kiev metro and Odessa airport in October 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladimir Omelyan, the press service of the department reports.
“Information provided by the UK National Cyber Security Center indicates the participation of Russian GRU specialists in an attack on enterprises in October 2017. There is no guarantee that attempts to disable critical industry enterprises will not be repeated,” the statement says.
Odessa International Airport and the Kiev Metro are already implementing a number of digital transformation projects, the Ministry of Infrastructure assures.
Let us remind you that the Netherlands and the UK are in favor of introducing new EU sanctions against Russia for alleged cyber attacks.
The West has accused Russian military intelligence of orchestrating global cyberattacks targeting institutions ranging from sports anti-doping authorities to nuclear power plants and chemical weapons research laboratories. On October 4, four employees of the Russian GRU were accused of trying to steal from the Malaysian authorities data from the international investigation into the crash of a Malaysian Boeing in eastern Ukraine, for which they were later expelled from the Netherlands.
