Omelyan complains that the idea of canceling trains to Russia does not have full support in the Cabinet of Ministers
There is no unequivocal support for the abolition of railway communication between Ukraine and Russia in the Cabinet of Ministers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan on the air of “Information Evening” on Channel 5.
“There is no unanimous government support here,” he admitted.
“We proceed from the position that such messages must be stopped. Even based on the situation that there is war; morally and ethically, traveling to an aggressor country that kills your compatriots is probably not good, to put it mildly,” the minister said.
At the same time, Omelyan claims that domestic transportation will supposedly receive a significant advantage from this.
“We proceed from the fact that we have a huge unmet domestic demand for rail transportation. There is a chronic shortage of trains and carriages. People complain all the time that it’s impossible to buy tickets,” he said.
“It is logical for us then to redirect the 80 trains that travel in the Russian direction to the domestic market or to the western direction. And this is more than 200 cars every day. I believe that they will significantly affect the picture of transportation in Ukraine,” the minister said.
