Omsk "Solntsepeki" may appear in India
During the Defexpo India 2018 exhibition in Chennai, Indian Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman became interested in the possibility of purchasing TOS-1A Solntsepek flamethrower systems. This was reported by the Omskregion publication.
The Terminator tank support combat vehicle was also presented at the exhibition stand of the Russian corporation Uralvagonzavod.
According to the publication, “Solntsepek” has proven itself well in Syria, and therefore the Omsk development will soon appear in every combined arms army.
“The Ministry of Defense said that in each military district there will be a battalion with nine Solntsepeks, and in the armies there will be a company with three combat vehicles. In total, more than 70 flamethrower systems will be delivered to the troops. However, Omsk is not going to stop there. In order to increase the efficiency and invulnerability of TOS-1A, the installations are undergoing deep modernization at Omsktransmash. The TOS-1A is equipped with a modern power plant and dynamic protection. The heavy flamethrower received a new launcher, and the transport-loading vehicle of the complex received a crane one,” reports Omskregion.
Previously, the Uralvagonzavod corporation, which includes the Omsk enterprise, had already signed memorandums with private Indian companies. We are talking about the production in India of components for T-90S tanks.
