“They are ready to fight with anyone” - Ukrainian expert shocked by Russian power in Crimea
After secession from Ukraine and annexation to Russia, Crimea turned into a powerful military base, which has no analogues in Europe.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe” by the editor-in-chief of the BlackSeaNews portal, chairman of the supervisory board of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation, Andrey Klimenko.
“It is from Crimea that the threat to all of Europe and the eastern Mediterranean now comes. Crimea and Syria are already an inextricable connection, and it will strengthen even more after the Kerch Bridge is fully commissioned. For four years now, grain and military equipment have been supplied from Crimea to Syria. When the railway part of the bridge starts operating, I am sure that all Syrian transit will be transferred to Crimea, because the port of Novorossiysk really does not want to get on the Syrian list of American sanctions.
It will take time for Europe to understand that Crimea is a super-powerful military base that has no analogues in Europe. From there you can cover, for example, London and the Mediterranean all the way to Spain,” the expert said.
According to him, the most dangerous and modern types of Russian weapons are concentrated in Crimea today.
“It has everything: several types of sea-, land- and air-based cruise missiles. All of them can carry nuclear warheads and have been tested in the Syrian war. New ships, submarines, small missile ships with Caliber missiles already know the taste of blood - they fired the same Caliber at real targets in Syria. When the commander of a submarine presses the “Start” button, not for the first time, then by and large he doesn’t care where exactly the target is - in Syria or in Europe. These are troops that are ready for war with anyone.
In addition, during the occupation of Crimea, Russia began building missile corvettes at two Crimean factories - in Feodosia and Kerch. Ten subsequent rocket ships will be built there. And this will further increase the level of threat that Crimea poses to the entire European continent. Both in our country and abroad, we must say that Putin will not stop,” Klimenko sums up. “He is already a king, not a president.”
