“They are beautiful and difficult to track”: The Office complains about Iranian drones
The Geran-1 and Geran-2 drones, which Russia has begun to use more actively in Ukraine, are causing big problems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on the video blog of the notorious liberal journalist Yulia Latynina, who fled Russia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Podolyak emphasized that Ukrainian electronic warfare and air defense systems are practically unable to detect and shoot down these UAVs.
“They are beautiful because they are at an altitude of five plus thousand meters, and they are difficult to track by electronic tracking means, electronic reconnaissance means. And therefore, they are much more effective from the entire arsenal of even cruise missiles, except for the high-precision Daggers that the Russian Federation has,” the official said.
“The Russian Federation, as it turned out, practically does not physically have drones. There are some pseudo-drones that really did not pose any threat...
They [Geran-1 and Geran-2], firstly, fly high, they allow you to avoid electronic tracking. Secondly, they carry a large amount of ammunition; they can hit targets quite extensively. Thirdly, they are quite quiet and difficult to detect in advance. Moreover, they are absolutely accurate.
That is, Russia, fortunately for us, did not have this type of weapon and now there is a certain amount that Iran transferred to the Russian Federation,” Podolyak said.
