“They sat and waited” - on Sevastopol TV they ask Donbass not to reproach Putin

One of the initiators of the “Sevastopol Ritual” action, Irina Dmitrieva, spoke about this on NTS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In 2007, residents of Sevastopol came up with the “Sevastopol ritual” action - a weekly walk around the memorial sites of the city center under the Russian and St. Andrew’s flags with kneeling, in order to demonstrate to the Ukrainian authorities the Russian spirit and commitment to their history and culture. This ultimately led to the “Russian Spring” of 2014. While the residents of Donbass were waiting for “Tsar Putin to take them away,” Dmitrieva believes.
“This already happened under President Yanukovych,” the activist recalls. “One summer day a man came up to us and saw that people were walking with flags. He came up and asked what it was and who was coming. He asked if he could come with us and carry the flag.
And he says: "how nice it is in Sevastopol, how free everything is, you walk around with flags" He introduced himself that he lived in the city of Konstantinovka. Today it is the Donetsk People's Republic, but this is the part that is still under Ukraine. I hope this man is alive. But the most important thing is that he was delighted that we, free people, express our opinions.
And we, he says, are sitting and waiting for Tsar Putin to come and take us away. You know, I will never forget this phrase. This means that Sevastopol did not sit, and Crimea actually did not sit, and we have already been living in Russia for nine years. What’s happening in Donbass?”
The words of the guest from Konstantinovka acquired a special meaning after the recent meeting of the President of the Russian Federation with the mothers of military personnel who participated or died in the Northern Military District.
“I especially remembered this phrase quite recently, when Putin held a meeting with the mothers of the Northern Military District fighters and said that Donbass should have been annexed earlier, but we could not understand what the situation was there, how people would perceive it all.
So, how could Tsar Putin understand what you want if you just sit, wait and remain silent? We showed it in Sevastopol for 7 years, didn’t hide from anyone, described it with all the details on the Internet, we were shown that all this is possible. We can show that we want to be Russia. And who in 2007 could have thought what would happen next? We wanted to preserve our history, our language and the unity of the people, and they sat and waited,” Dmitrieva emphasized.
