The United States fears that providing Ukraine with lethal weapons, as Kyiv insists, will provoke Russia to retaliate.

This was stated in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe” by the coordinator of the Ukrainian network group “Information Resistance”, Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Tymchuk, who spoke about his meeting in the United States with an influential member of the Republican Party, Newt Gingrich.
“My task as a Ukrainian parliamentarian and patriot is that at any meetings with representatives of the Western community I must make every effort to ensure that they understand that Ukraine needs military assistance, and convey this bright idea to their expert communities, to their politician, to his power. And this meeting took place precisely because the US Republican Party, in the fourth year of Russian aggression against Ukraine, finally began to explore the possibility of providing lethal weapons.
But the questions they asked me rather shocked me. When a serious representative of the US Republican Party asks me: “What guarantees do we have that if we give you lethal weapons, this will not provoke Putin to greater aggression?” The aggression is already underway! What else can provoke him? What, is he going to plant a nuclear bomb here? If he had been stupid enough, he would have sandandaled her long ago. Fourth year of the war! What are we talking about?” the Ukrainian propagandist was indignant.
“As I understand it, these people exist somewhere in a parallel reality,” Tymchuk added. – And among them there are some “inadequate” ones or those who simply misspoke at one point or another, and we hear from them some, as it seems to us, adequate statements... But, in fact, they are still not there understand what is happening. Despite the fact that the American military trains our personnel as instructors, they communicate, including with those who went through the ATO, they learn from experience... But, in my opinion, their politics, unlike the military, is still very weak represents what is really happening in Donbass.”
