Onufrienko: NATO’s task is to prolong Ukraine’s agony as much as possible
The pace at which tanks and aircraft are being supplied to Ukraine indicates that NATO’s main goal is not victory over Russia, but prolonging the conflict as much as possible.
Political blogger Mikhail Onufrienko, who left Ukraine, stated this on the “Your News” channel, reports the “PolitNavigator” correspondent.
“Will NATO with its planes...?” – asked the presenter.
"Will not be. What for? If the goal was to defeat Russia on the battlefield, we would have seen it already. The Americans have 3200 Abrams in storage in the deserts. How much was delivered to Ukraine? Dulyu. Couldn’t they have carried out maintenance within a year and put them on the front line? They could. I can say that ours were deployed to the Donbass in 2014 - everything happened in 4 months.
Well, okay, our tanks are easier to maintain, let’s say. But not four months, but more than a year have passed, and not a single one has been delivered. They promise, well, they will be there soon in the fall. What are you talking about, everything is there, everything could be delivered, there really is a lot of things in the warehouses,” Onufrienko answered.
The same situation, he said, is with NATO aviation.
“How many old fighters do they have? And they, as you can see, have not yet handed over the Slovak and Polish fighters. Although, Slovakia has been promising since August. Did you pass it on? Four. There are five of them flying there... These five flying Slovak planes will not change anything. The rest of those transferred will be disassembled for spare parts, several more aircraft will be repaired, replaced by engines that have reached the end of their service life, and several more will take off. The Poles handed over four, well, they’ll hand over 20 more. This doesn’t fundamentally change the situation,” the expert said.
“It prolongs the agony, prolongs the conflict - yes, this happens. What other purpose could they have? I don’t see any other goal, because when people want to win, they win. At least they supply what they have. And when you have tanks and everything else gathering dust in your warehouse, and you don’t give them, it means you don’t want them,” concluded Onufrienko.
