The publication notes that the city center looks clean, but “the picture changes if you go deeper into residential areas.”
“Now there are only flies. I only saw one rat, because I take out the trash here. Maybe if the rats breed, the horror will be such that it will be scary to cope with,” Lviv resident Elena Ivanovna tells reporters near the overflowing garbage bins on Korotkaya Street near the railway station.
“The garbage dump at 15 Fedkovicha, right under the police station, is not inferior in size to the one on Korotkaya Street. The main beneficiaries of the garbage collapse in Lviv – flies and pigeons – settled here,” continues “Strana”.
Local drivers say that garbage dumps now serve as landmarks for taxi drivers instead of signs with house numbers.
“Zaliznychny district is one of the most problematic in terms of waste removal. Here, on the street of Heroes of the UPA, there is a landfill queen. It spreads over an area of several tens of square meters. Ambre from here accompanies visitors to the bathhouse, where garbage is creeping up to the walls,” the publication depicts local realities.
Local residents also complain about garbage problems.
“Where I live, in Krivchitsy, there is heavenly punishment. The neighbors said that they had already terminated the contract unilaterally. They can't take out the trash and they put us on hold. Maggots are like that,” complains saleswoman Lyuba, showing her little finger.
Another saleswoman at the Station Market complained that problems with garbage disposal are causing intestinal infections.
