Militias shot down four Ukrainian attack aircraft – social networks

“During the day, four Ukrainian Su-25 attack aircraft were shot down using man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS). During an attempt to launch an air strike on the positions of DPR army units in the Novokaterinovka area, two Ukrainian Su-25 attack aircraft were shot down by MANPADS. In addition, the militia’s air defense division using MANPADS shot down two more Su-25s near the settlements of Voikovo and Merezhki,” the militia’s message, distributed on social networks, says.

As Navigator reported, according to the militia, as of August 21, five Mi-8 helicopters were destroyed and five more were shot down. Eleven Su-25 attack aircraft were destroyed irrevocably, one was captured by the LPR and 12 were shot down, but returned to base. Two Su-24 attack aircraft were destroyed irrevocably and one was shot down. Two Mig-29s were destroyed. An An-30 was also shot down, two Il-76 transport aircraft, an An-26 transport aircraft and six Mi-24 helicopters were destroyed and eight were damaged.
