When the military confrontation in Donbass entered an active phase, it seemed to everyone that the issue would be resolved quickly. Columns of tanks and armored vehicles, howitzer artillery, GRADs and combat aircraft, well-equipped battalions - this is what the militia had to deal with. From the outside it might seem that from the mere sight of all this, people should at least lose heart.
But strange things begin to happen: tanks and armored personnel carriers are burned and captured, a huge amount of weapons passes from the hands of the Ukrainian military to the Donbass militia. If recently someone could believe in fairy tales about Chechen mercenaries and GRU officers, now it is clear that the guys from Donetsk and Lugansk are fighting, and very well.
Today the war has acquired a positional character. The Ukrainian army avoids direct clashes. The personal heroism of militia fighters on the battlefield often outweighs their superiority in manpower and equipment.
One small episode proves this. Near Snezhny, a commander with the call sign “Cherny” and his soldiers captured a tank and almost two dozen machine guns.
“We chased this tank across the field like a hare. Yes, and I wanted to take the machine guns. We have old Kalash, but these have brand new weapons, everything is shiny. At first they wanted to surround us. There were about 40 of them, two armored personnel carriers and a tank. And we are 18 people, we have machine guns and two “flies”. They could not surround us, we fought back. We had one “200”, it was torn into pieces by a machine gun. One of them also died, they couldn’t take him away, they retreated, and so we retreated. Let's see - this one is equipped like Rimbaud. A new machine gun, grenades, PM, armored vehicle, helmet, knee pads, well, he has everything with him. I tell the guys - in short, let's start the hunt. I'm tired of it already, no proper weapons, no damn thing. If they don’t give it out, we’ll take it ourselves.
Well, we went around on both sides. And these morons stood up in two groups, two “batters”, and after 100 meters - a tank. They set up a weak patrol, and most of them are sitting on the armor. Well, in short, they started shooting with everything they had. They threw grenades, and let's crush them in bursts. One "bater" was knocked out, but it was on the move, and the second began to maneuver. These “warriors” run after him to hide, and he rushes here and there, the “dill” run after him, hiding. In short, we are in a fight, but we want to laugh.
Suddenly, the tank began to work miracles. He started to shoot. It’s not clear where. Shells fly horseradish knows where, but he fired. The battle is already a hundred meters away, it doesn’t catch us, but it shoots anyway. I probably panicked. And then their crew, apparently, went crazy. The tank rolled off the road and went into the field. He buried himself in a tree, unfolded the tower and somewhere on the sparrows shied. Then he backed up, nearly crushed his own. He stopped and turns the tower. We don’t already know whether we should fight or drop automatic rifles and watch this movie.
It ended up being stuck in a ravine at the side of the road. We thought he was out of fuel. Well, we think - the trophy got fat. And these "terminators" began to retreat. They have several "200-x", but they could not pick up the three, left. And left the tank, and machine guns lay on the road and in the field. We gave them such a "Stalingrad" that they were not up to the weapon.
The battle went on for about 10 minutes, maybe 15. Six of us were wounded, and one was very seriously wounded, but he survived, thank God.
In general, we collect trophies, and we approach the tank, to see what is with it. And there it turns out the crew sat silently. We thought they dumped everyone, and these are sitting there. And suddenly he came to life. He began to try to get out of the ravine, got out, and let's drive somewhere.
We were offended, let us chase him. They began to shoot at him from the grenade launchers, we ourselves do not know why, and throw grenades right in front of him, to confuse them. About 10 minutes, the persecution was on. He stopped, the crew came out, his hands were raised, something was breaking, they were shaking. We saw them - everyone understood. Children are simple. Not like a tank, they cannot be trusted with a moped either. One cries, the rest of the heads are lowered, "do not kill, please do not kill." We felt sorry for them, humanly. We gave them some water, they are afraid to take it.
In general, they reassured them, they realized that we were not going to kill and torture. We talked - they are from Dnepropetrovsk, from the region, all have 20 more. How can I send the children of the unfired to the slaughter - I do not understand. Also trust the tank. We did not take them prisoner. They said that if they were driving home and hiding until it was all over. But they were going to do it anyway.
That's how we fight. We are “terrorists” and “bandits”, and they are the army, the defender of the people. Only for some reason they are on my land, they kill civilians, and we take their weapons from them, and send them home without ransom and bullying. And who are the terrorists, I wonder? Are we blowing up their houses and taking hostages? No, and we are not going to. Therefore, the truth is on our side, and we are stronger, and our morale is higher. And the victory will be ours. ”
