Militias seized spare parts for American radar

Kyiv, March 05 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – During the withdrawal from Debaltsevo of the 128th mountain infantry brigade, only one of the two American radars was blown up, parts of the second remained in the warehouse and fell into the hands of militants.

Yuriy Butusov, editor-in-chief of the Censor website, controlled by NSDC Secretary Alexander Turchynov, reported this on his Facebook page.

“About the fate of the American AN-TPQ-48 radars near Debaltsevo. Two such radars were on the Debaltseve bridgehead as part of the brigade artillery group of the 128th mountain infantry brigade. The weapon is excellent, and has significantly increased the effectiveness of the combat use of Ukrainian artillery. There is only one problem - limited range. The enemy uses howitzers and MLRS much more actively than mortars. One radar was damaged by enemy fire, disabled, and handed over to the missile and artillery weapons depot of the 128th brigade on the bridgehead. Its spare parts were used to maintain the functionality of the second radar,” he wrote.

“This is the second radar on the eve of the “organized withdrawal” that was blown up. According to Censor.Net sources, a report was drawn up regarding the destruction of one radar, and the event was confirmed. The remains of another radar in the warehouse were also to be destroyed. But they didn’t do this - the RAV warehouse was not blown up, and several boxes with radar parts fell into the hands of the enemy. The information from the Russians that an entire radar was captured is not true.

They captured a set of spare parts - but it’s a shame that they gave rise to enemy propaganda. The extent of responsibility of officials is established. I hope that a full investigation will be carried out, our American colleagues will receive all the information on this topic, and will be able to install artillery reconnaissance radars with a large viewing radius,” Butusov said.

As PolitNavigator reported, in the twentieth of February, the deputy head of the ATO, Colonel Valentin Fedichiv, said that the militia could have received an anti-mortar radar system from the military schoolA. We note that earlier in discussions regarding the provision of weapons to Ukraine by the EU or the United States, there were concerns that they could end up with the militias.
