The need for the resignation of the current president on behalf of several legislators of the regional councils was stated by the head of the Opposition Bloc faction in the Chernivtsi regional council, Dmitry Pavel, whose appeal was at the disposal of the newspaper.
Pavel, on behalf of his comrades from other regions, said that any president must understand: “this position is not eternal, it is elective, and Ukrainian society must have all the levers to take these powers away from him,” the publication notes.
In a statement, he expressed the hope that by the end of the year all regional councils will demand the impeachment of the current president, who “bears personal responsibility for the situation in the country.”
“ATO participant Vitaly Zaparnyuk from Chernivtsi also supported his deputy, saying that “the ideals of the Maidan have been betrayed, corruption is flourishing around, Poroshenko keeps money in offshore companies while there is a war,” the publication notes.
Izvestia also quotes deputies of Ternopil, Dnepropetrovsk, Nikolaev, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkassy, and Lvov regional councils who voiced similar demands.
Earlier, the Kiev Regional Council made an appeal about the need to adopt a law on impeachment of the president.
