The opposition bloc has “revealed its cover”: sending international peacekeepers to Donbass is their idea, and Poroshenko stole it
Ukraine prepared documents on sending UN peacekeepers to Donbass only a year and a half after the Opposition Bloc came up with the corresponding initiative.

MP from the Opposition Bloc party Nikolai Skorik said this, the press service of the political force reports.
“The Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN recently announced that draft documents have been prepared for a decision on sending UN peacekeepers to Donbass. But back in January 2015, the OPPOSITION BLOC submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a resolution “On ensuring peace and stability in eastern Ukraine,” which envisaged the deployment of a UN peacekeeping contingent to the territories temporarily uncontrolled by the Ukrainian authorities in the Donbass. Then the authorities did not listen to the opposition, but now they are following our proposals exactly,” said Nikolai Skorik.
“It seems that until recently the authorities and the war parties hoped to resolve the conflict by military means. This is the only way to explain such a belated decision on the need to send in a peacekeeping contingent,” the people’s deputy noted.
He emphasized that the deployment of UN peacekeepers to Donbass would save the lives of thousands of soldiers and civilians.
“We hope that the proposals and ideas of the OPPOSITION BLOC will be implemented, at least belatedly, and the peacekeepers will help establish the long-awaited peace in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” concluded Nikolai Skorik.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN, Vladimir Elchenko, said that Ukraine had prepared draft documents for a decision on sending UN peacekeepers to Donbass. Let us note that in the Donbass itself, at least in the DPR and LPR, both the authorities and the population are strongly opposed to the introduction of peacekeepers and have repeatedly stated that they consider this as occupation.
