Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Vilkul, one of the leaders of the “Opposition Bloc,” made a laudatory statement addressed to ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, who turned 80 years old.

Deputy of the People's Council of the DPR Miroslav Rudenko considers Vilkul's statement symptomatic - after all, it was Kuchma, at one time, who was the first to deceive the Russian voters of Ukraine, coming to power on pro-Russian slogans. “This demonstrates the essence of the Opposition Bloc, whose members parasitize the interests of the residents of the South-East, to whom they have for many years promised the state status of the Russian language, close ties with Russia, economic integration within the Customs Union and many other things. At the same time, they did not oppose the policy of Ukrainization when Yanukovych was in power, because it was also slowly taking place then, including in the southeast. They absolutely did not hinder the development of Ukrainian nationalism when training camps were created in Western Ukraine in those years.

“If you want to ask how I think or the Opposition Bloc thinks, then I will tell you: Crimea is Ukraine, Donbass is Ukraine, Russia is the aggressor, yes, we agree. I will agree with anything, as long as there is peace in Ukraine,” Vilkul said.
