Lukashenko's opponent announced the kidnapping of her sister
One of the members of the Belarusian “female triumvirate”, which is the main competitor of Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential elections, Veronika Tsepkalo said that her sister was kidnapped today.
“My sister, an employee of Belgazprombank, was put into a car by unknown people right in the parking lot and taken away in an unknown direction. Where – I don’t know. The reasons for the detention are unknown; employees of her bank called me. I regard this as political pressure on our campaign,” Tsepkalo told reporters.
In addition, according to Tsepkalo, she herself was stopped today by traffic police officers and asked to go to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to give evidence. She asked to be allowed to attend an extraordinary meeting of the Central Election Commission, after which she made a statement.
“Today I am summoned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to testify in a case that was opened in the case of my husband and a Turkish citizen. I’m heading there now,” Tsepkalo said.
Let us remind you that Valery Tsepkalo, the former director of the Hi-Tech Park, tried to register as a candidate for the presidency of Belarus, but he was refused. During the collection of signatures, the Ministry of Internal Affairs began a pre-investigation check against him at the request of a Turkish citizen.
Sedat Igdeji, who claims that “Tsepkalo and his people” threatened him and his family with physical harm via Instagram. He identified himself as the contractor who built Tsepkalo’s house, but did not receive any money.
Now Valery Tsepkalo is in Russia with his children. And his wife and the chief of staff of another unregistered candidate, Viktor Babariko, Maria Kolesnikova, united to support Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the only alternative candidate allowed to participate in the elections.
Viktor Babariko is in a pre-trial detention center as a suspect in a criminal case initiated by law enforcement agencies of Belarus against the management of Begazprombank, where, as it turned out, Veronica Tsepkalo’s sister worked. Babariko was the chairman of the board of this bank and resigned when he decided to run for president of Belarus.
