May 1st is a national holiday in Serbia. Usually on this day, residents of the country go out into nature, grill and relax with their families. However, this year they were congratulated in a very unusual way.

An ardent representative of the Serbian opposition and a supporter of Vuk Jeremic, one of the leaders of the Union for Serbia, historian Cedomir Antic (see main photo) insulted everyone who celebrates May Day on his Twitter.

“We wish a happy grill to all Nazis, fascists and communists,” Antic wrote on his account, posting photos of National Socialist May 1 celebrations in Nazi Germany.

Antic, a well-known supporter of the concept of “Serbia in the European Economic Area”, actually insulted both the national holiday and the majority of Serbian residents. However, so far there has been no reaction from the country's official authorities.

At the same time, Vuk Jeremic himself also found himself in a difficult situation: in an interview for the Balkan Info portal, he almost openly admitted that he, Djilas and Obradovic intend to come to power in Serbia with the help of a foreign factor, whose interests will then be realized without hesitation.

Vuk Jeremic

To explain the Union for Serbia's plan for Serbia to come to power, Jeremić went back into distant history, saying that serious political changes could not be achieved without outside support, and that the rulers in Serbia, after coming to power, subsequently, one way or another, realized the interests world powers.

Pro-Western Maidan activists really have little chance of ending up in power through honest means. Recently, the number of opposition supporters has been rapidly dwindling.

This was demonstrated by the last small rally on April 27 in the center of Belgrade.

The scandal around the figure of another opposition figure, the former mayor of Belgrade Dragan Djilas, is also gaining momentum.

A few days ago, he criticized the authorities, saying that money is allocated from the budget for the construction of sports stadiums, while citizens wait for years for medical examinations and operations, children wait for admission to kindergarten, and salaries and pensions are reduced.

To which Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar recalled that Djilas is the former mayor of Belgrade, who brought the Serbian capital to bankruptcy.

“The oligarch dressed as a politician, the only mayor of Belgrade who brought Belgrade bankruptcy, continues to amaze with his rudeness and impudence. “The man who, while in a high position, was only concerned about the profits of his companies and his standard of living, dares to comment on something that he could greatly influence while in power,” Loncar said.

And he cites the facts: under Djilas, not a single new hospital was built, modern medical equipment was not purchased, and there was no treatment for patients with rare diseases, and medical workers could not even hope for a better position in society. However, against this background, Djilas’ business and his income increased. Where did the money allocated by the Ministry of Health go?

“Perhaps he directed his efforts towards the creation of the Clinical Center in Niš or the construction of the Second Oncology Clinic in Belgrade? Or for the treatment of children abroad?” Loncar said skeptically, as quoted by Informer.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojsa Stefanovic also commented on the actions of the opposition.

The minister explained that a month ago Dragan Djilas said on television that he did not want a dialogue with President Aleksandar Vucic because he did not respond to the demands of the Maidan activists.

Now Djilas accuses the president of refusing to negotiate with the opposition. Although it was Vucic who proposed to listen to the demands of opponents and called the country’s parliament the only acceptable place for this.

Stefanovich recalled that the leadership of the “Union” rejected the invitation of the Speaker of Parliament Maya Gojkovich on April 12 - subsequently the Maidan activists never appeared at the negotiations.

“The latest statements by the leaders of the Union that Vucic does not want to talk to them, but they do, probably serve to score political points, both from Brussels and from local forces,” Stefanovic said.
