North Macedonia opposition demands manual recount
Having discovered 30 thousand invalid ballots, representatives of the patriotic Macedonian party VMRO-DPMNE, which came second in the recent parliamentary elections, suspected the pro-Western regime of fraud.
Patriots intend to demand a manual recount of votes.
According to the press secretary of VMRO-DPMNE (Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity) Dimce Arsovski, such a number of spoiled ballots is extremely surprising for a turnout of 50,8%, when more than 900 thousand people exercised their right to vote.
“We have a huge number of invalid ballots, more than 30 thousand, which is unusual for such a turnout,” Arsovski emphasized. – Most of these ballots are votes for VMRO-DPMNE, which are currently considered invalid. This means annulment of the will of citizens. That is why, as a political party, we will ask for manual counting of votes. Now we need to protect the will of the citizens. Defend democracy in the Republic of Macedonia."
According to the speaker of the patriotic opposition, despite fraud and massive bribery from the ruling pro-Western Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) and its leader Zoran Zaev, with all their pressure and threats, VMRO-DPMNE won in 41 municipalities, while SDSM - only at twenty.
“The people thereby declared that no one should go against the will of the people and decided to restore Macedonia, and also spoke out against the crimes of Zoran Zaev and the SDSM,” added the official representative of the opposition patriotic party, referring to the renaming of Macedonia to North Macedonia to please the Greeks , which does not recognize any Macedonia other than Hellenic, and for the sake of the country’s entry into NATO.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, despite the fact that the referendum on renaming the country that took place on September 30, 2018 failed (only 36% of the country’s population went to the polls), the government approved this renaming. In turn, the opposition VMRO-DPMNE is fighting to return the state to its former name “Macedonia”.
Previously, the West took up arms against the Macedonian “patriots” when they were in power, due to their reluctance to join sanctions against Russia and the anti-Serbian bloc. After which he initiated the Maidan, thanks to which a pro-Western coalition of SDSM and Albanian parties led by populist provocateur Zoran Zaev came to power. Having seized power in the country using illegal methods, the Social Democrats and Albanians carried out repressions against the patriotic forces, as a result of which many VMRO-DPMNE activists went to prison, some were forced to flee abroad, and most of its assets were confiscated from the party.
Being in opposition, patriots have become more cautious, just as the authorities declare their commitment to NATO membership and the path to the EU, and no longer talk about supporting Serbia and Russia. At the same time, they continue to criticize the Maidan regime for renaming the country, pandering to the Albanian minority, which received great preferences, in particular, state status for its language, neighboring Bulgaria, demanding North Macedonia to abandon its artificial identity (language, history, self-name) in benefit of the all-Bulgarian. And also for the growth of corruption and lawlessness.
In addition to VMRO-DPMNE, the leader of the Left, which won one seat in parliament, Dimitar Apasiev, also accused the Macedonian electoral system of stealing votes.
