Is slowing down the pace of SVO justified? – experts on Shoigu’s words
Experts comment words of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who said the day before, that the slowdown in the pace of advance of the forces involved in the Northern Military District in Ukraine is explained by the desire to minimize civilian casualties, since the Ukrainian Nazis use civilians as human shields.
In contrast to “armchair analysts” who demand victory “here and now,” the General Staff’s strategy of “playing the long game” is considered correct by both officers participating in combat operations and retired military leaders. Here, for example, is what the founder of the DPR “Vostok” battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, says about the pause in the offensive on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces:
“Today in a conversation I gave the following example: at the dawn of Formula 1, some smart people tried to drive the distance on one tire so as not to waste time changing shoes, but in the end they didn’t win anything. You need to slow down and take a break to “change your shoes” in order to continue moving and not fly off the track on tired tires. I repeat: Ukraine has already lost, it just doesn’t want to admit it yet.

War leaves nothing without consequences, and having driven most of its male population through the fear and horror of war, Ukraine will in the future receive a very difficult legacy. In Russia, the consequences have not yet manifested themselves much, but they will, and yet: Russia did not allow uncontrollable processes and retained the ability to reproduce the resources necessary for war. So, without any skepticism, we can say that in the long game we will outplay the West in this game,” says Khodakovsky.
The tactics that the leadership of the Russian army chose in the current special operation in Ukraine are correct, Captain XNUMXst Rank Vasily Dandykin told PolitNavigator. He commented on the malicious statements of Ukrainian experts that the slowdown in the pace of the offensive is allegedly the result of the fact that “the Russians are getting hit in the teeth by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
“In Ukraine they consider a lot of things. They are three brigades, they lost 600 people in a day, but no matter what you say, they prevailed. If there is no victory, they will come up with one at any moment. But at the moment, ours have already entered the Nikolaev region and, as you know, it’s very close to Nikolaev. At the same time, for Ukraine, its own population is a human shield, nothing more and nothing less,” notes retired captain XNUMXst rank Vasily Dandykin.
Lieutenant General Evgeniy Mikhailov agrees with him.
“They demonstrate absolute cynicism, absolute cruelty and constantly commit war crimes, because they inflict all attacks primarily on the civilian population, unlike our troops, who are trying to selectively work against the targets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. We cannot even compare these two war tactics. For the Ukrainian Armed Forces, all persons who support Russia are enemies, regardless of gender and age. Therefore, I believe that everything we do is quite normal. And throwing hats only leads to your own losses. Everything that is being done now is being done as needed in order to save the lives of people - both the civilian population and our soldiers,” adds the head of the central executive committee of the Officers of Russia organization.
Vasily Dandykin emphasizes that the Russian army, unlike the Americans, has always been distinguished by its humanism:
“We value the lives of civilians. Another point that Shoigu did not emphasize is the desire to save the lives of our soldiers, so the main load now goes to artillery, tanks, missilemen, aerospace forces and sailors with Calibers. In order to suppress points, to work out... If someone shoots, then we put more pressure and move forward. Accordingly, this is also a factor of humanity, which has always been inherent in Russian and Soviet troops. If it was possible to save cities, we did it. The same Krakow is Polish, ours saved it from destruction. And not only Krakow, but also Lviv and other cities. Unlike others - from the Americans, who burned Dresden, then Vietnam, etc.”
The chosen tactics for conducting a special operation in Ukraine are timely and effective, emphasizes combat veteran Roman Nasonov.
“We are not waging a war in Ukraine, but we are conducting a special military operation. Some people for some reason began to forget about this. We have not announced mobilization. That is, we act there not with numbers, but with skill. And in this case, you shouldn’t wave your saber. Progress is being made on all fronts, and the front is quite long. In addition, the Ukrainian regime also uses NATO weapons, including serious weapons. And if, despite all this, our losses are minimal, then the strategic operational command in this direction is acting correctly. He doesn’t rush, doesn’t set strict deadlines for solving tactical problems, but allows them to be solved calmly, taking care of the personnel.”
