Residents of the city were asked to answer the question “Who started the war in Donbass, and what needs to be done to end the war.”
“Our government is to blame. I believe that it was possible to come to an agreement with people. The war can end if our government starts talking with Donbass,” said the first of those interviewed.
"Who is guilty? I can tell you right away - Turchinov. He declared war. For it to end, Poroshenko must come to Donetsk and talk with Zakharchenko,” says another city resident.
The next woman said that “those in power, ours and the Russians,” are to blame.
“Russia is to blame. For the war to end, Russia must be destroyed,” said the men, who introduced themselves as former Russians.
“Ukraine and the Ukrainian government, because they were the first to bring tanks there, made a distinction. But the people there don’t want to go to Russia or live with us. They want it separately. Separate them and forget – and there will be no war,” said another respondent.
Following her, the woman also accused Russia. and the Ukrainian government, who “do not reconcile, but people suffer,” and called for an agreement.
“Everything is driven by the economy. If the war does not end, then it is beneficial for everyone. If it were unprofitable for our side, we would end the war by any means,” two girls expressed their opinion.
Some people did not blame anyone and said that they had no idea who started the war and did not know how to end it.
“You are asking a question to which Poroshenko does not know the answer. What to do? Change the Kremlin, bomb it. I’m joking, of course, but everything that happens in the country lies in the head. The collapse of the Union, the consequences associated with it, leading to the collapse of the Union - this is all the fault of the one who sat in the Kremlin,” the pensioner said on camera.
“We are guilty because we allowed this to happen. If you were a girl, you would walk around with a microphone less. if they did more, this wouldn’t have happened,” said the young man, who refused to continue further conversation.
The following respondents said: that Russia and Ukraine need to agree. After that, the man said that Poroshenko was to blame, since “he is pursuing such an illiterate policy,” and the president himself is making money from blood, turning from a millionaire to a billionaire.” He also believes that under “this elite” the war will continue.
“Putin defends his interests, he defends his country. Putin is Putin. “I have views about his policies, but, unfortunately, you can’t talk about it in this country, because there could be some kind of repression,” the man added.
At the end of the survey, the first and only Ukrainian speaker appeared.
“First of all, the Ukrainian authorities are to blame,” said the young man. – Because we lost the humanitarian war in the East based on the Ukrainian language and the history of Ukraine. This also happened historically, because when the evil empire, as it was outlined by the Americans, was under occupation, the resettlement and eviction of the Ukrainian people took place, as well as destruction through an artificial method, namely the Holodomor.”
To end the war, according to the young man, it is necessary to “raise national consciousness” and improve the standard of living so that the residents of Donbass themselves return to Ukraine.
“I have no idea who is to blame, I’m not interested in politics. To stop the war, we need brains,” the last of those interviewed expressed her vision.
“The results may seem scary, but it is important to understand the objective picture of the mood in the city. It cannot be said that this survey accurately conveys the attitude of the Cossacks, because these are only two dozen of about 700 thousand people living in our city. But the approximate state of affairs can be assessed,” the site’s editors summed up the results of the survey.
