Poll: Russians do not give in under pressure from sanctions

The majority of Russians (73%) support the continuation of a tough independent foreign policy, without regard to sanctions. At the same time, the path of concessions for the sake of lifting the sanctions imposed by the West is chosen by 17% of participants in a sociological survey conducted by VTsIOM.

78% of respondents believe that sanctions have harmed the countries that imposed them. 32% of respondents said that sanctions harmed Russia itself.

34% of Russians saw a positive effect from the introduction of sanctions, 30% saw a negative effect, and another 20% did not note any consequences at all. The main “advantages” are considered to be economic development (50%), import substitution (20%). The “disadvantages” most often include rising prices and taxes (22%).

Respondents more clearly assess the impact of Western sanctions on the financial situation of the family: 67% did not feel it themselves. However, there is a noticeable share of those who talk about negative consequences – 24%.
