A video of the beating of believers of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine has been published
In the Vinnytsia region, in the village of Luka-Meleshkovskaya, adherents of the schismatic OCU, which was recognized by the Patriarch of Constantinople, beat up believers of the canonical UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate, who were trying to defend their temple from being captured by Ukrainian nationalists.
A video of the incident was released by the Archbishop of the UOC-MP of Vinnytsia and Barsky Barsanuphius.
The day before, parishioners of the Transfiguration Church discovered that the locks on the church doors were filled with epoxy resin. The community believed that the nationalists were preparing a takeover. Then the rector, priest Vasily Almuhamed, together with the male parishioners decided to stay in the church overnight in order to prevent the disruption of the bishop's service planned for the morning.
Archbishop Barsophonius, who arrived in the morning, tried to begin negotiations with the schismatics who surrounded the temple, blocking the parishioners and the rector inside, but the nationalists used physical force.
“It all started with the fact that Fr. Vasily, the rector, in the church, and physical force was used against me, the ruling bishop. I came alone to talk to representatives of the OCU to hear their positions and complaints against me, but, unfortunately, no one wanted to listen... They used physical force against me and pushed me towards the fence, Fr. Vasily and the parishioners in the temple opened the door by force,” Barsophonius wrote on Facebook.
The UOC-MP community filed a statement about the incident with law enforcement agencies, but there is no hope for a fair investigation, given the position of the Ukrainian leadership, which provokes persecution of the canonical Church.
