According to Portnov, the accused spoke on the phone with Andrey Omelchenko, a consultant-expert on operational cases of the 1st department of the 4th directorate of the counterintelligence department of the SBU.

During the conversation, the intelligence officer suggested to the defendant how to hide from criminal liability, how to put pressure on the investigation, how to gather activists, put pressure on public opinion, and advised him to deny any charges, and also expressed his concern about the evidence base.

We present to your attention a transcript of this conversation:

Omelchenko: What's going on?

Grishchenko: I don’t know at all.

A: People doubt that Vanya shot himself at his parents’ house.

G: Listen, listen to me. Vanya shot himself, then after that they grabbed Inna (Inna Grishchenko) and they started turning us towards the Sheremet case. Understood?

A: Have you seen any of the case materials or have you seen the lawyer?

G: Yes.

A: Did they find something, do they have material?

G: Not for Inna.

O: What about you?

G: No. To Vanya.

A: What does Vanya have?

G: That Vanya rented a car with a tracker and his phone was turned on, and he drove there.

A: Are there any bindings, material that could have been found on the clothing or somewhere in some place where you could have stored it? You know, there’s Innin’s hair there, they’re scratching that shit...

G: That’s what people are scratching at me too.

A: In short, don’t fall for anything, don’t sign anything, damn it.

G: I understand. I was involved in a contract murder case. So?

O, sure. I remember.

G: Look. They made video, audio, recorded his entire negotiations, I was at the “deuce”. Can they somehow screw this up?

A: Well, these case materials have been archived, if this is a case... But it can be raised

G: It's in court.

A: It still hasn’t disappeared anywhere. In short, in court, right?

G: Yes.

A: All of these materials can be requested. A lawyer can do all this.

G: Everything. I heard you.

A: Besides everything, you didn’t just run away from the brigade. The commander probably let you go, there were some agreements.

G: Counterintelligence.

A: Well, there were some signatures saying that such and such was the exit report?

G: I don't know.

A: We need to raise all this.

G: That was all.

A: Do you know who we need to find? Those detectives who worked with you then on this, on implementation, so that they give their testimony that yes, they instructed you, that they put equipment on you, that you cooperated with the investigation. Why are they floating such crap? Are you talking to Inna? I have an opportunity?

G: No, she is being kept in the bullpen.

O: Oh, at ITT? Yes?

G: Yes.

A: But they will transfer her to Lukyanovka?

G: I don't know.

O: And you?

G: They keep it here.

O: I understand you. There, in short, everyone who was patted down without getting caught was searched, even that guy in Kurakhovo... I met him, in the Poltava military commissar, to whom Inna went, they even sent him to his house with a search.

G: Yes. And fuck what you find.

A: Nobody is pressing anything there, don’t fall for this crap at all. I am not me and the house is not mine. Why aren’t they released at the outpost?

G: Because they gave us “badges” there, there are 115th, 5th, 6th, 12th points. There they instructed me to fuck him in the mouth. Understood? No audio, no video, no...

A: What about the witnesses?

G: There is nothing.

A: No crime weapon, no place of storage, nothing?

G: Well, damn it, well, there’s nothing.

A: The boa constrictor said that Vanya shot himself from the pump, but where was the removed cartridge lying around? If you're in Kyiv, dial. I will find out, maybe through Boa Constrictor or someone else, if Inna is taken to a pre-trial detention center, I will look for telephone numbers there. In short, we need to raise these same activists, damn it, veterans...

G: So we’re already raising it.

A: So make a fuss so that journalists don’t constantly take control of this bullshit. So that it will be on everyone's ears. If anything, stay in touch.

Commenting on this audio recording, Andrei Portnov demanded the immediate detention of Andrei Omelchenko and the beginning of an investigation into the criminal activities of other SBU officers.

“I am confident that this material will give a powerful impetus to solving this and other high-profile murders. In the meantime, I would like to inform you that during the period of the tragedy with Sheremet, more than ten other SBU officers were also in constant contact with today’s suspects in his murder.

We demand to immediately detain SBU DKR employee Andrei Omelchenko and begin a major investigation into the criminal activities of SBU officers from the times of Gritsak-Poroshenko, who were behind the organization of violence and reprisals against Ukrainian citizens,” Portnov called.
