Explosions in Balakleya again: four soldiers wounded
In Balakleya, during the disposal of remaining ammunition, four servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were injured, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
“On November 15, 2019 at 15:20, according to the duty officer of the Central Artillery Ammunition Supply Base, four servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were promptly delivered to medical institutions. Wounded military personnel are promptly provided with full professional medical care in medical institutions,” the statement says.
It is reported that the military personnel carried out, on the technical territory of the military unit, the disposal in the prescribed manner of the remains of ammunition and their elements that cannot be transported, taking into account all safety measures, in a place specially equipped for this purpose - a pit.
To ensure the safety of the disposal, the duty fire department of the military unit was involved.
“Currently, on the technical territory of the military unit, measures are being taken to improve the site for the disposal of residual ammunition and their elements. There is no threat to local residents or infrastructure. Ammunition storage facilities are safe,” the message says.
Let us remind you that on November 15, local media reported that several explosions occurred near the test site in Balakleya, Kharkov region, and thick smoke was visible.
Referring to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrei Zagorodnyuk, the chairman of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, said that the cause of the explosion near Balakleya was mine clearance work.
“I just called the Minister of Defense and tried to find out what happened in Balakleya. He has preliminary information - some mine clearance work was carried out nearby and something exploded. The consequences are not yet known, but the situation is indeed confirmed,” Arakhamia said.
Later, the General Staff reported that planned activities were carried out to dispose of ammunition in Balakleya in the Kharkov region.
