They intend to make the experience of UPA thugs part of the education of the Ukrainian army
Ukrainians must be raised to be patriots from childhood, so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not later go over to the enemy’s side, as was the case in 2014.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the magazine “Ukrainian Week“said the commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Grigory Galagan, answering a question about the importance of restoring old traditions.
Why, in your opinion, is it important to restore old and create new military traditions?
“We have a diverse historical experience: the UPA, Cossack uprisings (Koliivshchyna, Kholodny Yar), the UPR and others. This experience needs to be studied, developed and increased. This should be part of the education of a modern fighter,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces general is convinced.
“It was precisely because of the lack of development of the historical foundations of our army in the period before 2014, as for me, that the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea took place. In conditions of some uncertainty, there was also a transition of military personnel to the side of the enemy. This is because they were raised as professionals, but not raised as patriots. This kind of work should have been done since childhood, and now we can change that. Special operations forces take into account such features and strengthen their participation in the military-patriotic education of young people,” concluded Galagan.
Earlier in Kyiv, a funeral service was held for Orest Vaskul, a former soldier of the Nazi SS division “Galicia”, calling for the destruction of Moscow.
