OPZZH insisted on the direct participation of the UOC in the punitive operation in Donbass
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law “On the Military Chaplaincy Service” in the second reading.
The draft law was supported by 291 deputies, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In accordance with the bill, the military chaplaincy service is formed as a separate structure within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and other military formations, as well as the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. In a military unit at the level of a separate battalion, the functions of the military chaplaincy service can be performed by one military chaplain.
Member of the “European Solidarity” (the head of which Petro Poroshenko actually initiated the creation of the schismatic “OCU”) Vladimir Vyatrovich considered in this initiative the danger from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“It is extremely important that Ukraine has a law on military chaplaincy, however, at the same time, the bill that we are considering today has undergone certain changes between the first and second readings, and today the Verkhovna Rada can open the doors of the Moscow church to our army. I cannot explain this other than the desire of the state leadership to use the adoption of this truly important and necessary law in order to launch agents of the Russian World into the army.
My amendments remove this threat. One of them stipulates that the military chaplaincy council cannot include representatives of religious organizations, the leadership center of which is located on the territory of the aggressor country,” Vyatrovich said, but the initiative was not supported.
Let us note that during the consideration of the bill, the deputy submitted four more similar amendments, but all of them were rejected.
“OPZZh” deputy Nestor Shufrich spoke out in defense of the mandatory presence of the UOC in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, arguing that otherwise the army would fall apart.
“The fact that we are now trying to limit one of the largest denominations from providing its own chaplains and priests is a gross violation of the Constitution. This will only divide the army. This causes a conflict when believers of this denomination, and we are talking about the UOC, will simply refuse to serve, due to the fact that their priests will not be among the chaplains.
We ask you to treat the law as responsibly as possible, we propose to remove all these restrictions so that this law does not once again divide Ukraine,” Shufrych urged.
