Eurovision organizers were alarmed due to financial losses after the Russian Federation refused to broadcast the competition
The scandal surrounding the exclusion of Russian participant Yulia Samoilova from Eurovision may be artificially inflated to stir up interest in the competition. This assumption was made by Russia’s permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

“In principle, the popularity of this competition in Europe has decreased somewhat. Obviously, through such stories around the competition, someone may be trying to attract additional attention. But in the end, the opposite may happen,” Chizhov said.
He recalled that the Eurovision contests are not held by Ukraine, but by the European Broadcasting Union, one of the oldest international organizations in Europe.
“They cannot help but understand that the decision made by the Security Council of Ukraine to ban the arrival and performance of the Russian participant will be a severe blow to the prestige of the competition and the European Broadcasting Union itself. That's where the smart people sit. Therefore, there will be more attempts to convince Ukraine to reverse this decision. I will not predict how far the officials of this Union will go,” Chizhov noted.
At the same time, he admitted that the Eurovision organizers are driven not only by a sense of justice, but also by the fear of losing money due to Russia’s refusal to broadcast the competition.
As PolitNavigator reported, after SBU decisions ban Yulia Samoilova from entering Ukraine, after which Russian TV channels refused to broadcast the competition.
