“Weapon of self-destruction”: Ukrainian “Hammer” mortar killed two Ukrainian Armed Forces militants
Two Ukrainian Armed Forces militants were killed and several more were seriously injured as a result of the rupture of the barrel of a defective Ukrainian Hammer mortar, which killed and maimed dozens of Ukrainian soldiers during the conflict in Donbass.
This was stated during the briefing by the representative of the People's Militia of the LPR Yakov Osadchiy, the correspondent of "PolitNavigator" reports.
“Despite the massive deaths of military personnel during the use of the Ukrainian 120-mm Hammer mortar, which had not passed factory tests, industrialists, in agreement with the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, resumed its supply to units performing tasks in the Joint Forces Operation zone, which contributed to further losses.
Thus, on March 23, in the 9th battalion of the 59th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, due to a rupture in the barrel of the M 120-15 “Hammer” mortar, which was nicknamed “Weapon of Self-Destruction” in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four militants were seriously injured, two of whom died on the spot,” – Osadchy said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian battalion commander presented the fact of the death of his subordinates as a result of violation of the rules when handling weapons.
“The Central Missile and Artillery Directorate gave instructions to the commander of the Joint Forces Operation Kravchenko to appoint a commission to conduct an investigation and establish the real causes of the death of the militants,” added the representative of the defense department.
