The feeling that the Ukrainian army is about to launch an attack on Donetsk
When another truce was announced a week ago between the armed forces of Ukraine and Donbass, few believed that it would last long. And indeed, complete silence with demonstrative handshakes in front of television cameras of militia commanders and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the withdrawal of Donetsk artillery batteries turned out to be a matter of just a couple of days. Then, small arms fire began in different parts of the front, a day later mortars were added to the concert, and now artillery periodically comes into play. The only good news is that so far the pro-Kiev forces have refrained from shooting up residential areas.
But the Ukrainians have moved on to a new stage in the strangulation of Donbass. Now the “Dnepr” and “Donbass” battalions have stopped allowing humanitarian supplies from the Akhmetov Foundation into the region, which is why several thousand children and pensioners are facing the threat of real famine. It is interesting to note that Rinat Akhmetov did not provide any real support for the “Russian Spring”, condemned the creation of the DPR, abandoned political ambitions, and his help goes only to ordinary civilians in Donbass, so the detained humanitarian convoy could not help the armed forces of the DPR in any way. So once again we are convinced that Kyiv is not conducting an “anti-terrorist” operation, but a punitive operation aimed against all residents of Donbass without exception. Now they are trying to return us to Ukraine not only by executions, but also by starvation.
Speaking of hunger, the Nazis have not yet managed to completely cut off food supplies to the region, and Donetsk stores still have enough food. The problem is that, due to the fault of the bloody Poroshenko, state employees have not received salaries, pensions and social benefits since the summer, and therefore many Donetsk residents simply do not have the funds to buy food.
However, despite all the difficulties, Donetsk continues to live. A New Year tree has appeared in the central square of the city, universities and theaters are open, public transport is running... Although, of course, everyone is very worried. It feels like there has been a temporary calm before the storm, during which both armies are gathering strength for a new battle. There are persistent rumors about American equipment, which is being brought en masse to the airfields of central Ukraine, about the preparation of a new offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Donetsk and Lugansk.
In turn, additional Donetsk troops were moved to the south, where they now hang over Mariupol, threatening to take this port if the war continues. So the strategy of the parties is clear. The Ukrainians, having replenished their battered troops over the summer with new equipment and personnel, will try to cut off communications between Donetsk and Lugansk, take control of the border with Russia, and then finish off the encircled republics. The armed forces of Novorossiya, in turn, are preparing to crush the advancing enemies in defensive battles, and then launch a counter-offensive and reach the former administrative borders of their regions.
In general, the truce could end at any minute, as soon as the Ukrainian army and national guard feel strong enough to go on the attack.
