“The mistake of Western sanctions is to judge Russians by themselves” – Kiriyenko
The West believed that after the most powerful sanctions, information and psychological attack launched against Russia, the Russians would have no time for Donbass.
First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergei Kiriyenko stated this during the Federal Educational Marathon “New Horizons,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We understand perfectly well that in the Northern Military District in Ukraine, Russia is not fighting with Ukraine. The united West is fighting against us, simply on the territory of Ukraine and, unfortunately, at the hands of Ukrainians. A tough confrontation with the technological capabilities, weapons, control systems and communications of the entire Western world. In addition, there were unprecedented economic sanctions that had no analogues. Incredible information war. Entire factories of fakes, lies, a total machine. Psychological warfare that was.
They were sure that it would take a month or two before the mass of pressure that they turned against Russia would lead to mass protests within the Russian Federation, to a split in society, to the fact that most people in Russia would oppose the president and the country’s leadership. And after this, the country’s leadership will have no time to defend its own in the Donbass, no time to defend the country’s geopolitical interests, but will have to deal with protests within,” Kiriyenko said.
However, according to him, the West did not take into account one fundamental detail.
“They thought we were just like them. My hypothesis is that when predicting, they thought in a way that if it were applied to them, it would lead to such results. They believed that Russian society would behave the same way.
After all, the first pressure they applied was pressure on material and economic things. Sanctions have been introduced - some goods are missing. Badly? Of course it's bad. Is the information war pressing? Of course it does.
Yes, all this exerts pressure, but they did not take into account the spirit, mentality, cultural foundation and foundations for Russia, in which there are things much more important than the ability to purchase this or that product in a store. Because the more important story for people living in Russia is the question of whether it’s fair or not, it’s a question of “we don’t abandon our own.” It is a question of choosing the right to independently choose what books I should read, what music I should listen to.
Their mistake was that they, trying to hook on the material part of the part that, from the point of view of moral values and spiritual values, got exactly the opposite effect,” explained the deputy head of the presidential administration.
