On June 3, 20 deputies left the Party of Regions faction in the Rada, and most of them joined the former “regional” Vitaly Grushevsky. He announced the beginning of the formation of the inter-factional group “For Peace and Stability” the next day, noting that 32 deputies were ready to join it. Members of the group included, among others, the former mayor of Cherkassy Vladimir Oliynyk, influential Lugansk politician Viktor Tikhonov and Donetsk businessman Vladislav Lukyanov. The last two were called by Ukrainian media, in particular Vesti.ua, close to the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.

Grushevsky demanded early presidential elections, punishment of those responsible for the death of Maidan defenders, and proposed decentralization of the country's administrative structure.

Koshkina named as sponsors of the group those who fled the country after Viktor Yanukovych and who were put on the international wanted list, 28-year-old oligarch Sergei Kurchenko (chairman of the supervisory board of the VETEK group) and former acting. Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov (engaged in banking business). Political scientist Taras Berezovets suggested on the TSN TV channel that the “Russian group” of deputies will prepare the “rehabilitation” of both of Yanukovych’s associates (they are put on the international wanted list on charges of embezzlement and embezzlement).

According to Grushevsky, neither Arbuzov nor Kurchenko have anything to do with the new deputy group. But Oliynyk, whom the Glavkom publication considers the main ideologist of “For Peace and Stability,” did not rule out attracting third-party funds to finance the project. “It can attract the attention of those people who share our values or approaches. I hope they will finance this project. If someone tells you that the party exists on membership fees, they will be telling a lie,” the deputy emphasized.

At the same time, as an interlocutor in the Party of Regions apparatus told RBC, the group’s efforts will be primarily aimed at preventing the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which President Petro Poroshenko insists on. “Regionals”, both current and former, are extremely disadvantaged by re-elections to the Rada; they risk being left out of parliament and will no longer be able to influence the situation in the country,” the interlocutor noted.
