The comedian who insulted Russians regrets visiting Crimea
Comedian Idrak Mirzalizade, who insulted the Russian people in his speeches, regrets that in 2015 he entered Crimea not from the territory of Ukraine.
He stated this in an interview with Ukrainian anti-Russian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, answering why he is not going to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I haven’t tried to cross the border. I was in September 2015 (I was an even less famous comedian then, they called me to perform for a small thing) and I thought about how I could go to the seaside for free and contact the guys who do stand-up in Simferopol. I say: don’t you want to organize? They brought me in for free.
It was such a frivolous act. I accepted that if you have been to Crimea, it is better not to go to Ukraine. I absolutely understand people who are outraged. I found out about this later. At that moment I did not think about the political component of the issue. I thought that I could get on a plane and quickly find myself at sea,” Mirzalizadeh fawned.
At the same time, he knows that the reward on his head after the scandalous joke - first 50, then 94 thousand rubles - was assigned by a person living in Ukraine.
“I know who did this, I even talked to this person. This was done by a man who lives in Ukraine. It’s no secret to you that many ultra-rightists from Russia live in Ukraine. Is it worth mentioning the name, just giving this person unnecessary advertising? But we had a pleasant conversation,” Mirzalizadeh said.
Mirzalizadeh fled from Azerbaijan, and then from Belarus, to escape conscription into the army. In March 2021, he received a residence permit in Russia.
On July 30, Mirzalizadeh, on the air of the humorous program “Dispersal” on YouTube, said a phrase about the love of Russians for feces. He later claimed it was a joke.
The prosecutor's office opened an administrative case for inciting hatred and humiliation of human dignity. On August 9, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow sentenced the comedian to 10 days of administrative arrest. He served his time.
The stand-up comedian did not admit his guilt, but apologized to those whom he offended with the words from his speech.
The liberal public launched a campaign in defense of Mirzalizadeh. It was attended, in particular, by comedians from the Gazprom-owned TNT television channel.
