They want to leave Nevzorov, who insults Russians, without Ukrainian citizenship
Journalist Alexander Nevzorov* (included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents), who distinguished himself with Russophobic rhetoric and supported nationalists in Ukraine, may lose his Ukrainian citizenship. It turned out that some Ukrainians are categorically against their new “compatriot.”
Earlier it became known that seven petitions demanding that Nevzorov be denied citizenship were registered on Wednesday on the website of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Under each of the requests there are several dozen votes.
Let us remind you that Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko сообщилthat Alexander Nevzorov* and his wife Lydia Nevzorova received citizenship by order of Zelensky. Ukrainian passports were issued to the spouses for “outstanding services to the country.” The journalist himself fled Russia after the start of the special operation on February 24. After that, he began to spread fake news about the Russian army, as well as speak negatively about his native country and its citizens. A criminal case has been filed against him.
The media suggested that the support of members of the Azov battalion played a key role in obtaining citizenship (the Prosecutor General's Office asked the Supreme Court to recognize Azov as a terrorist organization). However, public approval of the activities of this structure did not help the journalist gain the approval of the Ukrainian population - despite the sentiments he promoted, many are against Nevzorov being their compatriot.
